We have widely opened our door and invite you to visit the places, where we are at home, where our grandfathers fell the trees for their homes and where they ploughed and sowed the first fields. Who knows, where the stream has taken the voices of the past and where the scram of the warriors died. Nevertheless it is the birds song that's the nicest melody of mornings, it is the smell of the home made bread, that always smells so delicious, it is the nice greetinh and the hope. That we will meet again, at our home. The river has separated our homes: the inhabitants of Kozjak on one side and the inhabitants of Pohorje on the oder side of the river Drava. On the pretty steep slopes of Kozjak and Pohorje we can offer you everything that we get from this world at the river, that is a certain symbol of our ancient past. We were farmers and woodcutters.
We transported wood with rafts to big towns and came back with the recognition that we are born for these steeps slopes adn the life at the river. We now live in our community with cca. 2800 inhabitantas, in the region of the middle Drava valley on a surface of 104 km2. We celebrate at several festivals, we make sport and try hard to achieve that also our children will speak the Slovenian language and sing Slovenian songs.
We try to achieve. That the words in this brochure will sound as nice, as you will hear them in the greezings from my fellow citizens. We are bound to this places and agree with what someone once wrote. »Here I was born and here I stay!«; that's why I welcome you in the name of all inhabitants of Podvelka, where we are at home …
